THE LIFE OF PI

The pool was so famous that Yann Martel named the hero of his best-selling novel, The Life of Pi, after the pool.

In the book Piscine Molitor Patel “Pi'' stated that his father named him after the pool “so that his soul would be as clean as the pool’s water. So clear, you could make your morning coffee with it.”

In the 2012 Oscar winning film adaptation a flashback scene takes place during Molitor's hay day, as Pi explains to a journalist how he received his unusual name.
